We got the tree up, but things are out of place and piled up. I usually clean well for Thanksgiving, but I had a surgical procedure done (I'm fine), which set me back. Oh Merry Maids! (like never). I noticed the berber rug is looking soiled too. I rarely wear shoes in the house, so it's my husband. I guess I'll get him to help deep clean since he helped make the mess. I found some fun vintage holiday photos from the web I'll add here.

Mon, December 10, 2007 - 9:17 PMLove the photos!!
And yeah, husbands DO make a mess sometimes. Do you ever feel tempted just to see how bad they'd let it get if you weren't around to pick stuff up!? I swear the other day I totally thought this as I picked up pj bottoms and socks and boxers off the floor.. which were all like not even a foot away from the hamper! Ugggh! I thought, "Would he EVER pick this stuff up or would it just accumulate around the hamper?" -

Re: Just a little frazzled
Mon, December 10, 2007 - 9:22 PMBri has his own bathroom in the basement (weird, I know) and it was a terrible mess with magazines on the floor, dust. I don't use it, so I don't clean it. He has about a 12" space to get in the shower! He can have that bathroom, it's freezing in the winter. I don't know how he stands taking a shower down there. -

Re: Just a little frazzled
Mon, December 10, 2007 - 9:57 PMOmgosh.. that sounds like a nightmare.. I'm always amazed with what guys put up with... if we weren't around to make a home, would they even bother with the stuff hahaha!!
Over Thanksgiving I was thinking.. does it really matter to Jack about all the serving platters and stuff or does he just see the food and want to eat it hahaa! I know that sounds kinda animalistic, but you know what I mean.

Re: Just a little frazzled
Tue, December 11, 2007 - 6:56 AMMine is a ToTal Slob. I almost shudder to think of his old apartment, lol. I mean, cmon, theres only so many times you can clean a kitchen with paper towels and windex. ") When we had an extra room that was fine; When the "stuff" got to the door of the room, it was time for him to clean! But now, we even share a small walk in closet and it drives me CRAZY! He doesn't notice. He says to me that he doesn't see it the way i do. Hopefully, in the spring, we will be able to do the addition to the house and he will have his own closet. -

Re: Just a little frazzled
Tue, December 11, 2007 - 8:02 AMYou know ladies, the guys weren't born to clean, just hunt! LOL Dare, Jack only saw the food not the platters. My mom has a boarder that had to move out of his house and there were papers and stuff from one end of it to the other. Of course he moved in her house and his room there is the same way. They never learn. I make nice piles. Right now I have some stuff pushed in a laundry basket to sort out. That's good most of the time, but I scooped a bill in there and it was past due. Live and learn sometimes.

Re: Just a little frazzled
Tue, December 11, 2007 - 8:41 AMyou know, i solved the frazzled part by giving my Self a Beauty day at the Salon (hair cut and color), some new holiday make up (stila from sephora), and some new clothes. not much just a pair of red and grey plaid pants (so PUNK!) and a patchwork velvet skirt.

Re: Just a little frazzled
Tue, December 11, 2007 - 11:00 AMAnd CoPP you look gorgeous!!
Maybe I'll do the same! There's nothing like beauty treatments and a new outfit to make you feel glam! Great idea!
Yeah, don't even get me started on the closet crap.. ughhh.. and the thing is, is that Jack was SO not like this when we met.. he shared a house with friends.. and their home and his room were always spotless.. so I swear it's like we got married and he was just well.. that's the end of that hahahaha! I told him though when I start working again that he BETTER help or else!
I'm seriously wondering if this year..what would happen if instead of all the serving platter stuff .. if I just put everything on disposable colored plates hahaha.. it would be SO MUCH EASIER on me... but I just can't bring myself to do it!! Why?... I think it's like within us to make a home regardless of all the time it takes. -

Re: Just a little frazzled
Wed, December 12, 2007 - 6:54 AMOk, I hear all of you, believe me!
A few days ago, I went on a cleaning spree and totally cleaned the living room and kitchen. Our downstairs looked gorgeous! Did my husband notice? NO! OK, he noticed my desk was straightened up but that's it. The next day, we got our tree and decorated it with our kids. In one day, heck, in 3-4 hours from the time my kids got home from school and my husband came home, the place was TRASHED! I spent yesterday cleaning again! When my husband left, the place was a disaster area and when he came home..poof! Clean! Again, did he notice? Nope. I know he works hard all day and feels like the house is MY job. Fine, but alittle appreciation would be nice once in awhile. And like Dare said, maybe even making sure his dirty clothes makes it that extra foot or two to the laundry basket would be nice! And, I hear you Dare...when I go back to work, VERY soon, God only knows what this house is going to look like!!

Re: Just a little frazzled
Wed, December 12, 2007 - 9:06 AMAnd Lisa, sorry Dan doesn't focus on your hard work. The other thing for me is asking Bri to do something about 6 things before he actually does it-trash, vacuuming after I had my procedure....it's like talking to a wall!
We had two phone calls after 11 last night and that scares me because of our elderly parents. A guy who works for the same newspaper called Bri about ads he didn't even work on or do! I said that he should mention about calling late because of the above. If they were having ad problems in the 23rd hour, then he should have scraped it until next week-geez. -

Re: Just a little frazzled
Wed, December 12, 2007 - 11:34 AMI would've been freaked out if I were you too Dianne! Actually calls after 8 are strange around here.
I feel bad for talking badly about Dan--he really is a great guy and I love him so much! But, we all have those little things that get on our nerves--as I'm sure he does with me.
Oh, and I was trying to find f/t work, but I'm starting to think I should try for p/t to start with--it's been awhile since I had a job outside of being a stay at home mom and Reiki practitioner. I'm thinking I shouldn't overwhelm myself too quickly--I mean I still have the house and kids to take care of! I just know that I need to help out financially too.

Re: Just a little frazzled
Wed, December 12, 2007 - 1:26 PMOh you weren't really talking bad about Dan, just men's bad traits in general! ; ) We've been with them so many years, I understand what you were saying. My brother Ken is good about cooking,etc....who was his teacher in the early years....7 yrs older......ME! My friend in Holland has a husband that cooks a lot too. I guess if they can cook and maybe the main cook is not that great or makes the same things all the time, why not?
That's definitely one of Dan's good qualities-he can cook in a flash! : ) -

Re: Just a little frazzled
Wed, December 12, 2007 - 5:56 PMYeah, I hate getting calls at odd hours! I swear once a telemarketer called us at 9:45pm.. what the heck is up with that??... Anything beyond 8 pm is really weird around here.
I have to say that Jack is awesome about dishing out the compliments on the housekeeping. Still if I ask him to do one thing out of the ordinary he'll like play like he has NO idea what I'm talking about hahaha.. it kind of reminds me of when I was a teenager and my parents would ask me to like unload the dishwasher and I would make a MAJOR deal about it! Hahaha.. it's all coming back to me. Or like that one time when I asked Jack to make a sandwich and he just looked at me like I was crazy hahaha.. sometimes I just wanna shake him and be like "HOW DID YOU EVER GET THIS FAR WITHOUT ME????" Hahahaha!
In regards to work... well I'll probably be working from home, so it will be flex hours but full time work. With my stuff sometimes people pay according to how much work you take on. I'm hoping to keeping it from like 7 - 3pm or so.. but still I've a feeling I'll STILL be doing all the stuff around the house!!
