.. how soon is too soon do you think?

For some reason I'm REALLY in the spirit this year. I started putting up our decorations today.. Jack kinda looked at me like I was borderline insane, but I told him I was SO excited to get everything kicked off this year. I don't have really any "Thanksgiving" decor.. I've got a wreath, but that's about it.

Is November 11th just crazy-insane to start putting up the garland and gingerbread men?

It depends on what you like and makes you happy. I mean, they are selling all the decorating goodies in the stores now anyway. Back in my early days, it was not allowed to even decorate before Thanksgiving let alone buy Christmas stuff.
I wait until about Dec. 5th as I don't want to dust the decorations too much. ; ) I have an artificial tree, so I get that up within the next week after the 5th. First I try to get the Christmas cards filled out before I decorate.
Right now, I'm putting away Halloween stuff, but leaving some autumn things up for Thanksgiving.

I usually wait till December 1st. For some reason it just hit me today to start on in! It feels good though.. I have to admit I'm in the mood for hot cider now!:)

I do have to say, being from Southern California, I do like the feeling of "winter" that the Christmas season brings, being that we don't have any real winter to speak of. I like being able to start a (gas!) fire, warm up some cider or hot chocolate (or hot vanilla!), wrap in a blanket, watch a movie, etc., etc...

I refuse to acknowledge Christmas before Thanksgiving.

My mother would have Christmas 12 months out of the year if she could.

It's entirely possible that the latter is directly responsible for the former.

I wish there were more Thanksgiving themed decorations.. besides corn and fall wreaths. I did leaf rubbings last year and that was fun, but I didn't feel like a repeat.

You could do something with the 'color's of Thanksgiving-brown, gold orange-placements from the dollar store. I like the mixed nuts they start selling in the grocery store-the walnuts, almonds, etc still in their shells-have bowls of them. You could get assorted votives in the above mentioned colors.Pinecones are nice too! Think earthy or natural.

Speaking of fires-my friend in Canada got one of those plug in fireplaces and it's really nice. I think she paid about $165 for it. It sorta looks like a fire and throws off heat. It really brought her living room decor together. If you get tired of it, you remove it!

I have a Christmas wreath that has stayed up all year. I love pink and made a door wreath with pink lights and it cheers me up just looking at it.

I made vine wreaths for most everybody. A vine grows up into our crepe myrtle trees and I used that and silk flowers, ornaments, fake birds, pinecombs, and whatevers.

Thrifty soul that I am I got some pink glitter garland, a lighted star, some silver bead garland for New Year church table decorations; a bag of pinecombs, and some gingerbread ornaments all for a song at garage sales and our thrift & gift shop.
